The dependence of polymer film transparency on different kinds planar orientations nanoporous-crystalline (NC) phases syndiotactic polystyrene (sPS) and poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene)oxide (PPO) is described. two polymers exhibit opposite behavior: improved for sPS PPO by the chain axes NC being parallel (c?) perpendicular (c?) to plane, respectively. This behavior can be rationalized negative positive birefringence chains, In fact, maximize transparency, refractive index phase along plane has increased come closer that corresponding amorphous phase. pursued controlling orientation hence associated ellipsoids.
